News from Summer 2:

On Monday 6th July, we were delighted to welcome PC Dom and PC Rob to school for a fantastic day of learning and hands-on experiences.

The visit began with an informative session for our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, who took part in discussions about road safety and anti-social behaviour. The officers shared valuable advice about staying safe in the community, making sensible choices, and understanding the important role that everyone plays in helping to keep themselves and others safe.

Throughout the day, every class in the school, including Years 5 and 6, had the exciting opportunity to visit the police van on the playground. Unfortunately, Year 2 were on a trip. However PC Dom and PC Rob have said they will do the session again for them when they are in Year 3 in the Autumn term. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the vehicle, with some even getting the chance to sit inside and experience the police siren! PC Dom and PC Rob explained the equipment they carry, talked about the different responsibilities of police officers, and answered the many thoughtful questions our pupils asked.

The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for children to build positive relationships with our local police officers, helping them to understand how the police support and protect our communities. It was a memorable experience that combined important safety messages with plenty of excitement and curiosity.

All of the children had a brilliant day, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to PC Dom and PC Rob for giving up their time to visit our school. We are thrilled that they are now planning to return at least once each term to deliver further workshops and training for our pupils. We look forward to continuing this valuable partnership and the many learning opportunities it will bring.

News from our School Council (Spring 1 Term):

On Friday 23rd January, members of the School Council joined pupils from other local primary schools to take part in the annual School Council Conference at Cranbourne.

The theme of this year’s conference was “A smartphone-free future”, which focused on supporting children to enjoy their childhood without the distractions of smartphones.

Throughout the day, the children took part in a range of engaging activities, including designing a smartphone-free day out, completing an obstacle course, playing bingo and creating artistic collages.

All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and represented Chalk Ridge brilliantly, demonstrating our school values by being respectful and responsible at all times.

For further information about a smartphone-free childhood, you may wish to visit the Smartphone Free Childhood website.
