Our Vision, Values and Ethos

“Inspire, learn, care, succeed!”

Within our school community, we strive to provide a learning environment where all individuals are valued and cherished, nurtured and cared for. It is our aim to provide an outstanding education for every child in our school, for lifelong, reflective learning and success. We endeavour to inspire all children to realise their true potential and to develop skills, knowledge and attributes through encouragement and challenge from each other, and all adults who work here.

Our school vision is based on five key values which are: -

aspiration
inclusion
respect
resilience
independence

These values are shared by our staff, governors and children and affect all that we do and how we do it!

Chalk Ridge Primary is a Community Primary School catering for both girls and boys from four (Year R) to eleven (Year 6) years of age.  We have the capacity for 420 pupils. Our average number on roll is 400.

The school was built in 1974 and has been extended three times since then, in 1995, 2000 and 2004.

The school is set in an attractive environment with landscaped playing fields, playgrounds and children’s quiet areas.

There are 14, good sized, classrooms, two libraries and work areas with first-class resources for the children.   In addition to the classrooms there is a hall available for P.E., drama and assemblies.  The Gibson Room is a purpose built  group activity room used for a variety of purposes, it has drama studio lighting and is equipped for music lessons. Our Early Years classrooms also have separate play areas.

Our principles for learning and teaching are;
  • Ensure every child succeeds; provide an inclusive education within a culture of high expectations and aspiration.
  • Build on what learners already know; structure and pace teaching so that pupils know what is to be learnt, why it is to be learned and are given the opportunities to make choices how to learn it.
  • Make learning vivid and real; develop understanding through enquiry, creativity, e-learning and group problem solving.
  • Make learning an enjoyable and practical experience; stimulate learning through matching teaching techniques and strategies to a range of learning styles.
  • Enrich the learning experience; build learning skills of resilience and independence across the curriculum.
  • Promote assessment for learning; make children partners in their learning.
